First Mission[]
- Before Boss Battle
- Hector: Randolph mentioned that he'd be heading through this pass!
- Hector: We should split up and ask if anyone has seen him.
- --You encounter a small settlement after an hour of walking.
- Trainer: Hello there. Are you new around these parts?
- --You ask the woman of she'd seen a merchant with grey hair.
- Trainer: Hmm, now that you mention it, I might have seen someone matching his description...
- Trainer: But if you want something badly enough, you have to prove it: With a monster battle!
- After Boss Battle
- Trainer: Wow, I was completely outmatched!
- Trainer: I did see that merchant around, not too long ago. He went east.
- Trainer: I warned him about travelling alone, but he insisted.
- Trainer: Hope you find him, and good luck!
- Hector: There you are! Any luck finding out anything?
- --You tell Hector that Randolph was seen heading to the east.
- Hector: The east? I heard there were bandits on the prowl around there!
- Hector: We need to hurry up and catch up with him!
Second Mission[]
- Before Boss Battle
- ?????: Aaaaaaarrrg!
- --As you make your way through the outskirts of town, a man jumps out of the snow right in front of you!
- Hector: What the heck?
- Snow Master: I am known as the great and undefeatable Snow Master! I take my opponents by surprise and challenge them to battle!
- Hector: That's nice. We're in a hurry, though...
- Snow Master: But I just did my introduction! And I spent hours hiding in that snow bank...
- Hector: You could get frostbite from that, you know.
- --You offer to battle the formidable Snow Master while Hector scouts ahead.
- Hector: Well, I guess that could work. Just don't take too long.
- Snow Master: Raaaaargh! Shiver with fear before the unstoppable wrath of the indomitable Snow Master!
- After Boss Battle
- Snow Master: No! The all-powerful Snow Master must retreat and regain his strength!
- --The unflappable Snow Master jumps back into the snow bank and covers himself with snow.
- --You run to catch up with Hector.
Third Mission[]
- Before Boss Battle
- After Boss Battle
Fourth Mission[]
- Before Boss Battle
- --At the far end of the pass, you notice smoke rising above the treetops of a nearby forest.
- Hector: Hmm, that could be from a camp. It could even be from Randolph.
- Hector: Whoever it is, they might know something. Let's pay them a visit.
- --You come across a small clearing in the middle of the woods. The smoke is rising from a small cabin's chimney.
- Hector: I figured there'd be a camp of hunters here or something, but a lone cabin?
- ?????: For the last time, tell us where the kid is!
- ?????: The boss wants the kid you've been travelling with, so hand him over!
- You hear voices from the cabin.
- Hector: That sounds like...!
- Randolph: I don't know anything! We parted ways a long time ago!
- Hector: Randolph!
- --Hector slams the door open. Randolf is there, tied to a chair by two bandits.
- Bandit: Well, we weren't expecting any guests...
- Bandit: Looks like the kid came to us instead!
- Hector: Yeah, you got that right. Hope you morons are ready, because I'm not holding anything back!
- After Boss Battle
- Bandit 1: No way! This can't be!
- Bandit 2: L-let's get out of here!
- --Both men run off into the forest.
- Hector: Finally! I thought it'd never end!
- --You and Hector run inside to help Randolf.
- Randolph: What on earth are you two doing here?! After everything I said...
- Randolph: !...
- Randolph: Why would you come after me?
- Hector: Randolph... I'm so sorry. If I'd known these guys wanted me, I would've stopped traveling with you.
- Hector: Once you are safely in Othlon, I'm going to get to the bottom of all of this.
- Randolph: ...
- Randolph: You're an honest person, Hector. I was a fool for doubting you.
- ---Randolf gets to his feet. He lifts his bag from the floor...
- Randolph: Wait a moment...
- --He drops to the floor and searches the bag.
- Randolph: No! They took it all! My money! The brand new Capture Cards! Everything!
- Hector: Those thieves! We should go after them!
- Randolph: No... it wouldn't do any good. They're probably far away by now.
- Randolph: I have nothing to pay you with anyway. I can't ask you to track them down like this.
- Randolph: I'm grateful for what you both have done for me, but I think this is where we truly part ways.
- Hector: ...
- Hector: No, I refuse.
- Randolph: What? But I can't pay you... It's not worth your time-
- Hector: How I spend my time is my business, and if I want to help a merchant get back home, then that's what I'll do.
- --You nod in agreement.
- Randolph: I don't blame you for this at all!
- Randolph: I was the one who foolishly ran off without help. It's not your place to worry about me...
- Hector: Randolph... Mr. Bernstein... When you hired me, I made you a promise: that I would get you to Othlon safely.
- Hector: Keeping that promise is far more important to me than any ranch.
- Randolph: I...
- Randolph: ...Hector. Thank you.
- Randolph: Just get me back to Othlon, and we can figure things out from there.
- Randolph: In fact, I'm fed up with this cursed family business!
- Randolph: The lies, the backstabbing, sending me down these bandit-infested routes...
- Randolph: I'm giving Malen a piece of my mind!
- Hector: Understood, Mr. Bernstein.
- Randolph: Ah, Hector.
- Hector: Yeah?
- Randolph: Just "Randolph" is fine with me.
